My real-life alias is actually Amethyst, and yes I am a leopard gecko.  Some of you reading this right now may have already heard about me and my various exploits.  I'm known affectionately  as not only Amethyst, but also The Big Ham and The Big A.

I gave myself a DLGM which I might add, I worked very hard to achieve.  What is a DLGM?  Well, its a Doctorate in Leopard Gecko Medicine.  I gather it has no real value in the outside human world (nor does the degree technically exist), but you cannot go through life without an acronym nor a pretend profession / dream job!  And since I am not the most humble of geckos, why not go for broke and pretend to be a doctor for a while!

Since I have been reduced to the life of celibacy thus far (although I do hope for a girlfriend soon) I have had a lot of time to do some serious thinking. Given all the problems leopard geckos are going through, I wanted to create a comprehensive care site that not only covers your basic leopard gecko husbandry issues but also some more in-depth health and medical problems.

So my caregiver (Candy) and I have been talking to various vets, fellow gecko enthusiasts, researching information on the Net, pouring over books, journals and other papers - all in a search to bring you a more basic understanding of the medical side of leopard gecko husbandry.  We are not veterinarians and nor do we claim to be veterinarians.  PLEASE READ OUR DISCLAIMER ABOUT THIS AND THE INFORMATION PRESENTED ON THIS SITE!!!!  

All we wanted to do was give you access to some background information to give you a better understanding behind how things work, why they happen, what can be done about it, how important your veterinarian truly is and why they may recommend certain things.  We also wanted to prevent as many problems as we could from even happening in the first place.  This is also a site of collective experiences as well from other leopard geckos.
