Please read our Disclaimer before reading any further into these common medical techniques and procedures.

  Different Types
There are several different methods of diagnostic imaging that your veterinarian may consider for your leopard gecko.   The method of choice will depend on several factors including:
  • Suspected problem.
  • Availability of the equipment.
  • Cost factors.
  • If it is even practical to use on a leopard gecko.

Here is a breakdown of the tools commonly employed by veterinarians:

Basic X-Rays

Ultrasounds

  • Commonly used to investigate egg viability, biopsy assistance, hepatic disease, cardiac activity and more.

M.R.I. (Magnetic Resonance Imagery)

  • Primarily used to investigate problems with the liver, kidneys, brain and reproductive organs.

C.T. Scan (Computerized Tomography Scan)

  • Primarily used to investigate problems with the kidneys and respiratory tract.
